Q. What is VOIP?
A. VoIP stands for "Voice over Internet Protocol."
It uses the Internet and data networks to send and receive calls and
faxes. Since it uses your existing high-speed Internet connection, it
offers great savings on long distance and international calls compared
to traditional phone service.
Q.What is Litespans SipVoice?
A. It is a broadband local and long distance calling service
powered by Litespan, using the latest technology to combine voice and
internet networks to provide high quality, reliable and cost-effective
inbound and outbound long distance service.
Q. Can I use my regular or cordless phone set
with the service?
A. Yes, you can use any traditional phone that can be connected
to a telephone adapter. You can purchase a telephone adapter from Litespan
or if you already have one, you can use your own telephone adapter.
Q. Can I use my own IP phone with Litespans
SipVoice?
A. Most IP phones will work with Litespans SipVoice. Litespan
can provide you with the necessary data required to configure your IP
phone. However Litespan recommends using IP phones from the list of
approved IP phones manufacturers.
Q.How does Free In-Network Calling work?
A. Every Litespan customer can call every other Litespan customer free of charge. So if you are in NJ and your called party is in
Peru and you both are Litespans customers, you can call each other free of charge.
Q. Can I use SipPhone with a NAT (Network Address
Translator) or a firewall?
A. SipPhone works with most NATs and firewalls without any additional
setup. However, if your calls do not connect or you experience one-way
voice, you likely have a NAT/firewall problem. In that case, you will
need to ask your network administrator to open ports on the firewall
or set up port mappings on the NAT.
